What to do with Namorita

Don't we already have this card? No, that's Namora, she's a totally different character... kinda. Namorita is Namor's daughter-cousin. Namorita is Namora's daughter. And her clone. And Namor's cousin. Wait, Namora and Namor were cousins and also a couple? Ah, the complexities of fish royalty. Anyway, here's everything I'm excited to try with Namorita in Marvel Snap.

Strengths and Drawbacks

Namorita is a 3/5 for a reason. She needs every bit of that Power. Getting a discount is great, but only if you actually manage to play out the cards that are discounted and, unlike some of the other discounting cards, she doesn't also grant a buff. If you manage to play Namorita on Turn 3 and play each of the cards she discounts, she's essentially a 0/5, which is good, but not some new meta-warping card.

She also needs to be alone, which opposing cards and locations can easily screw up. I don't think Namora is just generically good enough to throw into just any deck. So, when do we want to use Namorita?

Draw a Lot

The more we draw, the more discounts we get. Namorita is likely the reason we got a Crystal buff and I love the idea of Namorita/Eitri/Loki as a value package in a variety of decks.

The extra bodies we can get onto the board thanks to Namorita, might allow us to play Crystal over Debrii. It's a dip in Power, but an increase in consistency (needed if you're adding Shadowlands DD). There will also be games where you just play a sequence of Quinjet, Loki + Eitri, and Namorita where you can just run away with the game without using any of your own cards.

Draw a lot of 1s or 2s

Going from 1 to 0 is an infinite percent discount! In all seriousness, making 1s cost 0 or getting 2s for half off can feel especially impactful and also solves the issue of needing to actually play the discounted cards out to get any benefit. 0-Cost Demons are especially appealing targets. Thanos' Mind stone has triple synergy with Namorita!

Thanos has a lot of natural draw and we can flood the board with 0-Cost Stones. We can get Thanos down to 4-Cost and Mockingbird is a lot easier to discount when we don't have to stress about paying the cost of the Stones. Nico can draw in a pinch.

Discount 3s or 4s to Play on Turn 6

Assuming you can plop her down on Turn 3, drawing three straight 3-Cost cards potentially gives you the same impact as Sera, without forcing you to take your Turn 5 to set it up. 4s are always among the cards that benefit most from discounts because of how they allow you to fit them into game plans in unexpected ways. Being able to play a 3-Cost Brood or Surfer in addition to Absorbing Man or a Hazmat and a Malekith or Man-Thing are just two such examples.

We can either play three 3-Cost cards or Absorbing Man + a 3-Cost with the right discounts. Crystal is key to making sure we have enough discounted cards to play.

Draw and ramp into 5s or 6s or 7s

If you play Namorita on Turn 3 she can give you an immdiately playable 5-Cost for Turn 4. We have an awful lot of ramping options in Marvel Snap already, so I'm skeptical that Namorita will displace any of them. However, as we've seen with cards that do similar things in the past, having redundancy can make a deck even more powerful.

With Adam and Namorita on board, we can draw a lot of discounted cards. The extra discount allows us to build a greedier Galacti Deck.

Is She Worth It?

Namorita isn't some new Sera, here to take over the meta. She is a piece that can help particular combos become more reliable and can enable more explosive final Turns. I definitely think she's worth it, but I'm a little wary of how much people seem to be overrating her. Get her, but don't expect her to be more than she is: a useful card with good stats.

I've put 5 more concepts for Namorita below the pay wall, including a new version of a personal pet deck. We are super appreciative of all of our paid supporters – you allow us to keep this site vibrant and ad free!
