Captain Britain: Decks for Weekend Missions
Fight for Avalon with these decks for Weekend Mission!
Here are a variety of decks you can quickly grab to clear this week's Weekend Missions!
Season Pass: Arthur Pendragon
Anti-Polar Doom
As expected, Excalibur has proven to be quite strong alongside both Dooms and Anti-Polar Magneto. With just six targets on the board, Arthur is effectively a 4/17! Zabu, Chamber, Caliban, and Magneto all love your high-curve deck.
Cosmic Ghost Rider plays an important role in stopping any Stardusts that crop up to ruin your fun.
Once you have Mordred from the currently running Sanctum Showdown, he’s a solid replacement for either 3-Cost in the deck.
Ongoing Tribunal
You have to dig pretty deep to find a high-performing Arthur deck running neither Doom 2099 nor Anti-Polar Magneto.
This deck’s stats are probably inflated by Wednesday’s hot location (Onslaught’s Citadel), but it looks viable anyway. Assuming you get a few of your key cards out, the extra Power from Arthur’s blade scales nicely. For example, if you have Iron Man, Onslaught, and Tribunal out, Excalibur contributes 24 extra Power to just that lane.
Series 5: Captain Britain
Magneto 2099
Yeah, this again. And I’ll have it again in the section for both Arthur + Betsy (Captain Britain). The synergy is just that high. The Doom/Magneto deck is the one that benefitted the most from the debut of this season’s new cards.
We would have seen more alternatives if Captain Britain handed out +2 Power instead. Synergies with cards like Wolverine Horseman, Superior Iron Man, or Scarlet Spider would’ve been more appealing. Alas.
I think Captain Britain probably represents less Power than Chamber or Moondragon – though her buff to Captain Marvel might actually make a difference sometimes. This deck doesn’t especially care for the discounts she distributes – the high-curve and Doom 2099 mean you’re likely to play a single card per turn. That said, there’s a chance she discounts one of your 6-Costs, and then you might play both of them in the same game. If that’s your goal, it’s possible Jennifer Kale just does that job better.
Shou Me the Way to Avalon
Here’s a deck that appreciates both aspects of Captain Britain’s ability. On top of the high-Cost cards that start in your deck, The Grand Design and three of the Skills that Queen of Chaos can generate will also trigger Captain Britain’s ability.
Run Nicholas Scratch, Nico Minoru, or Iceman if you don’t have Merlin 2 yet.
Both Cards!
AP Doomneto ‘99
As promised, here’s a third deck featuring Doom 2 and Magneto 2. It also features one of the worst deck names I’ve ever constructed.
While many of the pieces are mix-and-match (don’t like Moondragon? Chamber! Don’t like Kraglin? Drax! Iron Lad? Jubilee!), I wouldn’t be running this without Cosmic Ghost Rider right now. Players are catching on to the popularity of this deck, and Stardust is the most common counter. Until people are reliably protecting her in their back row, good ol’ Cosmic Rider is the best way to deal with her.
Buff ‘Em Up
I love this take on the new cards. Cap and Excalibur team up to buff your other 4-Costs, all of which can pay those buffs forward. The only one to be extra careful with is Wolverine, who needs more help than Captain Britain can offer on her own in order to trigger his Objective.
Note that if you play a 4-Cost and then merge Hulkbuster into it on the same turn, Captain Britain will proc twice!
Iron Lad and Karen Page are both good alternative 4-Costs if needed!
