What to do with Wilson Fisk

Wilson Fisk likes to be the biggest man in the room and he can be as long as he's sticking to street-level adventure. Once he goes up against the Galactuses and mythical monsters of the universe, he can feel quite small. The same is true of his Marvel Snap card. He is a great inexpensive option on Turn 3 if you have the biggest card in the board, and he can loom over smaller cards like Hydra Bob and assist Iron Patriot. But he does feel overshadowed by some of the larger combos in the game. Is notorious criminal Wilson Fisk too fair for modern Marvel Snap? When do we want to play him? Here is everything I'm looking forward to trying with the new Kingpin.

Play him Early for fast Tempo

I think Wilson Fisk is best played on Turn 3. Putting down 9 Power that early is going to be great for securing priority, enabling cards like Iron Patriot, Askani'son, and Punisher War Machine, and will help cards like Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Juggernaut, Alioth, and Galactus First Steps hit like a ton of bricks.

You have a 50/50 chance of drawing any particular card from your deck by Turn 3. Is a 50% chance of a 3/9 that you can plop down to take a commanding priority lead worth one of the precious 12 card slots in your deck? For some decks, yes.

Crucially, Wilson will still be discounted if you are tied for the highest Power card.

Nightcrawler ⇨ Punisher War Machine ⇨ Wilson Fisk

Hydra Bob ⇨ Iron Patriot ⇨ Wilson Fisk

Ebony Maw ⇨ Techno-Organic Virus + Martyr ⇨ Wilson Fisk

Play Him Late for Good Rate Value

If you're playing a deck that has giant cards to play out on Turns 4 and 5, Wilson Fisk can be a reasonable capper.

Is He Worth It?

The bottom line is that a 3/9 that helps enable something powerful and is great, but a 3/9 just for the sake of being a 3/9 isn't good enough to build your deck around it. Fortunately, there are enough things to enable that Wilson Fisk will find his niche.

Oh, and I'm getting Wilson just so I can get this Mooncolony variant!
