What to do with Lady Bullseye

Our first Bullseye card was really annoying – will Lady Bullseye be the same? Well, she does Afflict, a historically annoying ability, but she's more subtle and cerebral than that. I'll guide you through the best ways to use her and show you everything I'm excited to do with Lady Bullseye!

The First Flexible-Cost Card in Snap

So, Lady Bullseye is a 2-Cost card that, between her power and an Affliction, counts for 4 Power. Or is she?

Lady Bullseye isn't really a 2-Cost card. She's a card of whatever cost you want her to be, that scales proportionally with how much Energy you invest into her.

She can be a 2/4, 3/6, 4/8, 5/10, 6/12, etc. Whatever you need! Well, assuming your opponent has enough bodies on board to soak up the Affliction.

Is her Cost/Power scale good? Eh, kinda. It's a ratio of 1:2, the slightest whisper ahead of the vanilla curve line of no-ability cards.

So the real question is if either of her two features (cost flexibility or Affliction synergy) are enough to justify her use. There are three basic situations when Lady Bullseye has added value above her basic Energy/Power ratio.

When you LOVE to Float

Following Star Lord MotS’ reign at the top of the meta, we’re all acutely aware that floating Energy is part of powerful strategies. Horseman Storm, High Evo, and She-Hulk are all decks that can think of Lady Bullseye like a little battery that can store your extra Energy. Though the rate isn't amazing, it's better than getting nothing for it. Lady Bullseye lets you squeeze a little extra value out of turns where you're intentionally floating a bit of Energy.

Lady Bullseye can fit into our game plan on a variety of turns. She can be played on Turn 5 or on Turn 3 or whenever you need. She can help ensure that extra Energy from Superior Spider-Man or any discounts we get from Shocker or Mother Askani don't just get wasted, as often happens in this style of deck.

To Efficiently Use a Bunch of EXTRA Energy

Some decks generate a lot of extra Energy. If you're not using all of that Energy, your effort goes to waste and any advantage from generating it can evaporate. Most of these decks have solid plan As to use this Energy, but Lady Bullseye could be an elegant solution to squeeze out maximum advantage in closer to 100% of your games.

I might be Jim Hammond's biggest fan and I still think he scales well in a deck with both Wiccan and Hope. Lady Bullseye might be a better way to take further advantage of the wild Energy gain than Sunspot, since she can be played on a later turn, but can fill our 2-drop spot in an pinch. I expect Red Hulks to get pretty fat this week, but you could swap him for First Steps Galactus in the future.

When you CRAVE Affliction

Lady Bullseye has Affliction synergy! Whether it's with Ajax or Diamondback, there are multiple cards that can multiply her effect. She is the most efficient single card Ikari enabler and can take a big bite out of Evolved Abomination’s cost. Plus Lady B is a splashable way to affect pesky opposing cards like Isca, Iron Man, or Captain Carter.

Quake Scam

Longtime readers know how much of a Quake scam enthusiast I am. This deck packs plenty of ways to ensure your Ikari is playable and this is the type of deck that doesn't mind playing Lady Bullseye on curve, but can take advantage of playing her off curve as well.

Is She Worth It?

Lady Bullseye is likely to be misunderstood. She's a unique card that fills a specific niche. But her scaling is average, at best. That doesn't mean she won't be good and that she won't be worth picking up, but you need to think of her as a utility tool rather than a build-around card. It's entirely possible that some future top ladder build will rely on her flexibility to squeeze out wins in the margin, but she's unlikely to feel irreplaceable outside of Ikari-centric or Evolved Abomination decks.

Below the paywall I've put a few more Lady Bullseye builds that play into the use-cases outlined above.
