What to do with Isca, the Unbeaten

Scott goes through the synergies and strategies with Isca the Unbeaten.

What to do with Isca, the Unbeaten

Everything I Want to Try with Isca, the Unbeaten

Isca might not remain unbeaten, but a 60% win rate isn't out of the question. Isca looks like one of the stronger cards of the season and a reliable lane winner. I'll go through how I want to build around this powerful new card.

How Much Does She Scale?

If Isca goes off just twice she'll be able to contribute to a lane win, but in Modern Marvel Snap were looking for more. Three or four procs and we're looking at a card big enough that guarantee a win in her lane.

Scaling chart

How many times Isca goes off Her Power (with no extra buffs)
1 6
2 12
3 24
4 (Invisible Woman + Jocasta) 48
5 96
6 192

End Of Turn

I'm not entirely sure how well Isca is going to fare without First Steps Invisible Woman. Will this be the only successful build with Isca or is there something else we can find?

Isca truly takes an existing deck and makes it better here. Isca isn't the one and only plan here. She provides consistency and a powerful additional win condition on top of your other scalers. I expect this deck to be strong enough that Supergiant, Cosmic Ghost Rider, and other counters to come out in response. We need Cosmo for protection.

Buff Her - Best Ways to Buff Isca

FS Invisible Woman sends Isca’s number to Mars, but you can also buff her to increase her multiplications. Even a single point buff can make Isca really hard for your opponent to play around.

It doesn't take much to make Isca a lane winner. In this deck Isca provides some redundancy for Scarlet Spider and can compete in games where you need an even taller stack in a single lane than usual. Daredevil is a flex spot to give Cosmo more utility against Star-Lord, Fin Fang Foom, and other powerful On Reveals, but could happily be swapped for reach like Mercury or Nightcrawler, disruption like Iceman or Spider-Ham, or even a little extra greed with an Activate like Herbie or Awesome Andy.

Beater Aurora

With even just the +2 from Aurora, Isca can become a powerful threat to seal up a lane, and there are plenty of opportunities to add a third or fourth point of Power. The interactivity ("tech") in this deck comes in the form of Stardust and Acid Arrow, but depending on how the meta shapes up we might want Cosmo in here instead or in addition. Super Adaptoid, or even Ghost might be considerations depending on how powerful End of Turn strategies end up being.

Is She Worth It?

I think Isca is going to be the best card of the season, but there is some genuine flop potential. The meta may naturally coalesce around cards that can stop both Star-Lord and End of Turn, namely Super-Giant and Cosmic Ghost Rider. I think the End of Turn builds with Isca are going to be undeniably powerful, it's just a question of how counterable they are. I think Isca is very likely to terrorize lower MMR brackets where players tend to both play and recognize counters less often.

Below the paywall I have a bunch of weird different ways to integrate First Steps Invisible Woman and Isca the Unbeaten. There are so many levels of greed you can bring to these decks that I wanted to explore them all, while leaving the more straightforward approach to Isca above. Consider checking them out if you're especially excited (or scared!) by Isca.
