What do to with Aunt May

What do to with Aunt May

We've come a long way since Uncle Ben came to the game and it felt weird to get non-superhero "civilians." We've now got Karen Page and Mary Jane, and pre-heroes like Bruce Banner (a Peter Parker card feels inevitable). Still, it feels a little odd to get a little old lady in Snap. Especially one that provides such a powerful buff! Here's everything I'm excited to try with Aunt May!

How Does She Work?

Aunt May will only apply her buff to cards in your hand that have the Movable keyword and are themselves Movable. She won't give buffs to cards like Madame Web or Phoenix Force, but using the abilities of those cards will trigger her End of Turn ability.

The Nine Targets

Cards that can Set Off the Ability

Here are non-targets that are nonetheless useful in an Aunt May deck. Sam Wilson is a key card that makes Aunt May feel reliable, while the two mergers have a lot of utility in the current metagame.

Cosmo is key to winning one lane in addition to our Storm lane. Hold Quake for the turn after you play your Storm.

2 Big Fish

Just make two jiant Jeffs! Giant Geoffs! Giant Jeffs! If you want to get extra greedy, pop an Invisible Woman in over Brood to get a one-time double buff.

Clog one lane, win another lane with affliction. The various opponent movements don't trigger Aunt May – you'll have to do that manually with Madame Web, R&G, or Spider-Punk. Hold Jeff for the end.

I'm looking forward to playing a lot of Mercury this week and she's probably the May target I'm most excited about. Just two Aunt May procs on Mercury is enough to play her out with Cannonball unexpectedly on the last turn! You control the lanes!

Speaking of multiple destructions... There's no backup plan here – just kill two lanes with Cannonball. It's not going to work every time, but you can look forward to being emoted vociferously when it does!

Is She Worth It?

There aren't enough great targets right now to go out of your way to get Aunt May. However, I do think this is a fun, underrated card that you can get a lot of use out of if you're attracted to any of the play patterns above. If you're tight on resources, at least wait until the end of the week to see what people come up with for her. If you're flush with resources, you'll have fun completing your weekend missions with her. Plus, this is the exact kind of card that will get better and better as more cards are released. You might not regret having Aunt May in your collection this week, but the time will come. The real question is if we're going to get Golden Oldie variants or we need to hold out for a whole new card dedicated to the time Aunt May became Galactus' herald!
