Surprise card updates!

Please be respectful as we here at Fourth Location are mourning the death of our favorite weirdo Snap card, Mysterio. We're getting a new, also weird Mysterio, but we'll never forget our lost love. Join us in a moment of silence to pay our respects.

Second Dinner updated a bunch of cards in the latest patch! These aren't balance changes (there is still a balance OTA on Thursday), but some functionality changes necessitated some power level changes at the same time. Let's run through what's different!

Mysterio

On Reveal: Add an Illusion to another location. Activate: Swap Power with it.
  • [Old] 2/4 - As you play this, play Illusions to other locations. Disguise this as an Illusion until the game ends.
  • [New] 2/5 - On Reveal: Add an Illusion to another location. Activate: Swap Power with it.

I understand he was probably the single biggest source of game crashes, but I loved him and how weird he was. It's a sad day, but let's focus on the positives. This new Mysterio is going to be at the center of some pretty wacky combos (keep an eye on the Fourth Location shorts feed). Both Shadow King and Luke Cage can ensure that Mysterio and his Illusion both end up with Power. That's right, the way this card works is it adds Power to the Illusion and removes it from the Illusion, meaning they can restore it. You can buff your Mysterio (Shou-Lao, Maverick, Chavez, etc.) and end up with two buffed Mysterios after Activation by playing Cage or SK! Mysterio is also going to be an amazing Aurora friend. Aurora is really having a moment.

Sasquatch

  • [Old] 6/10 - Costs 1 less for each card you played last turn.
  • [Change] 6/10 -> 6/11

As old Mysterio was one of the best enablers for Sasquatch, we’re giving Sasquatch a small bump to compensate. ‘Squatch really was best with Mysterio and I'm sad to see that combo die. Perhaps we can comfort ourselves with some Black Swan shenanigans.

Change to Power Changes

Cards and Locations that give out or steal Power multiple times at once now count as one single buff or afflict:

  • Cassandra Nova
  • Dragon of the Moon
  • Laufey
  • Kahhori
  • Marrow
  • Dormammu’s Summoning Ritual 2
  • Lord of the Negative Zone (Annihilus’ Champion Skill)
  • Stark Industries

Kahhori

  • [Old] 4/6 - On Reveal: Each card in your hand gives one of your other cards in play +1 Power.
  • [New] 4/6 -> 4/7

They gave Kahhori a little power boost to compensate for the nerf to her interaction with Sebastian Shaw. Grandmaster + Kahhori is one of my favorite unexpected combos, and this gives me an excuse to trot it out again.

Card ⇨Character

Lockjaw

  • [Old] 2/3 - Activate: After you play your next card, swap it with one from your deck.
  • [New] 2/3 - Activate: After you play your next character, swap it with one from your deck.

Shanna

  • [Old] 3/4 - On Reveal: Add a random 1-Cost card to each location
  • [New] 3/4 - On Reveal: Add a random 1-Cost character to each location

These changes are subtle, but both of them make their respective cards a lot better. Lockjaw targeting characters both at input and output makes him a lot better and safe to play with Skills in your deck. Speaking of safe, Shanna will be a lot more reliable from a Power output perspective with this change.
