Zombie Nova: Decks & Tips for the New Card

Another LTGM brings another Series 4 card. This time it's Zombie Nova, available from Grand Arena from October 14–20. Here is everything I’m excited to try with Zombie Nova!

I picked up Zombie Venom and had a lot of fun with him, but I definitely felt the decks I used him in were missing something. Is that something Zombie Nova?

There’s no reason to run Zombie Nova unless you’re leaning into both his archetypes – Destroy and Horde. It pumps out Power in lots of little pieces, so Venus is a shoo-in. Play 1-Costs on Zombie Scarlet Witch then use living Killmonger to clear space.

Fiery Death

Zombie Nova will typically have a baseline of 6 points for 2 Energy (assuming your deck is built to incidentally destroy him). But of course there are some strategies that can boost that! With Misery alone, that shoots up to a 2/9 and adding a Firehair to the mix gets it to 12.

This sort of deck has been doing better with Zombie Captain Marvel over Misery, but Zombie Nova just might shift that balance.

(Un)Death Loop

The Power output is decent here, but it scales a bunch if you get a Death FF loop going. The most reliable way to start a loop is to play Death on your Firehair lane. especially to fill the lane.

Destroy a Carnage, Venom, or Misery to have Firehair destroy Death, and then revive her with her own ability.

Horde of Hordes

This is Lauren’s silly combo deck where you pump out a bunch of Hordes and then buff them all at the same time. It’s not especially good (and she’s totally open about that), but people have been reporting how much fun they’ve had with it! This deck will love having Zombie Nova all the same.

Destroy your own Hordes with Zombie Venom on the board, revive them with Morgan or Death, then buff all of them at once with your Horde abilities.

Is He Worth It?

It's depends how much you like Grand Arena, but I'd say this is a card that represents exactly what I want out of a free LTGM card: he's got a clear home, but he's narrow and doesn't look like an absolute must-own, so people who dislike the mode and aren't interested in this archetype don't need to fret too much.
