What to do with Dragon of the Moon
Everything I'm excited to try with Dragon of the Moon

What is this card? What are we even supposed to do with it? If it at least hit odd cards we could play him with the goblins and cloggers. It's a bit of a head-scratcher, but we’ve still identified some fun play lines and synergies and that can really tempt you to grab this weird card!
An Affliction Package

Dragon of the Moon Afflicts, and there are plenty of Affliction payoffs in the game. The way Diamondback multiplies Affliction can really add up, but is it enough? Will the Dragon hit enough cards that Ajax becomes a worthwhile payoff? Multiple questions in a row? You know what that means – time for a table.
| Even-Cards in Both Hands | DOTM's Power | Opponent Cards Plays Out | Potential Diamondback Debuffs |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 | 5 | 1 | -2 |
| 4 | 6 | 2 | -4 |
| 5 | 7 | 2 | -4 |
| 6 | 8 | 3 | -6 |
| 7 | 9 | 3 | -6 |
I think it's reasonable to describe Dragon of the Moon’s own Power range as being 5-9, with a range of 3-7 hits from both hands combined. If we get a couple extra points from the opponent playing out Afflicted cards and a Diamondback debuff we could have 8-13-ish Power between the two of them – which is not amazing unless you're further leveraging that power with something like Ajax. I think Dragon of the Moon could certainly use a buff to 3/3 or 3/4. 3/0 -2 sounds a lot more fun though.
Luke Cage has some sneaky synergy with DOTM, since you can play him late to undo the debuffs to your cards, but not the Dragon's buffs.
Dragon of the Moon > a bunch of debuffed cards > Luke Cage
Just Don't Have Any Evens
Of course, you could just build your deck without any even-Cost cards! What decks can do that best?
Surfer of the Moon
Dark Moon
The Real Synergies
Ok, but let's get real. This card was designed to go with Master Mold. And possibly a Hail Mary attempt to finally give Baron Mordo a reason for existence.
Iceman > Baron Mordo > Dragon of the Moon
This play line can leave your opponent with a nearly unplayable hand.
Here's the most promising Ronan/Dragon build:
RoMoon
Sure, Dragon of the Moon is pretty niche, underpowered, and unreliable.
But on the other hand… we get to play Baron dang Mordo and the newly buffed Master Mold! That sounds fun enough for me to blow the Tokens on Dragon of the Moon. I'm going to fiddle with this card, but you should only get this card if you're flush with resources or money. Otherwise, wait for the inevitable buff.
