Play the OTA 01/15
Marvel Snap's latest OTA doesn't have an earth-shattering change, but there is plenty to tinker with. For Lauren and my initial reactions, watch our video!
One Nerf and Some Fun Buffs
- Merlin: 2/3 ⇒ 2/2
- Fantomex: 4/6 ⇒ 4/7
- Vulture: 1/2 ⇒ 1/3
- Multiple Man: 2/3 ⇒ 2/4
- Fan Fei: 4/4 ⇒ 4/5
- Clea: 1/2 ⇒ 1/3
- Iron Lad: 4/6 ⇒ 4/7
- Dragon of the Moon: 3/2 ⇒ 3/4
- Zombie Galacti: cards ⇒ characters
I think they've given us a solid set of changes. There are buffs to classic cards (Iron Lad) as well as newer ones (Clea, Dragon of the Moon, Zombie Galacti). An archetype (Move) got a multiple buffs to play around with. Merlin deserves his nerf, but it's a gentle one. Most important perhaps, is what they didn't change. Shou-Lao is still around... for now. This means you'll either have to play him or counter him, as the decks below show. If you're still missing Shou-Lao, I'm planning to give away a few season passes this weekend on Bluesky! Let's open up our deck-builder and look at some new builds to make the most of these changes and take advantage of the new metagame.
What to Play
Fantomex is a Card in this Deck
I've been playing this Fantomex deck a lot already and it's surprisingly good. However, Fantomex doesn't feel essential and the deck often wins without him. But the extra point of power should help him get into play more often.
Drag Me to the Moon
Another deck I've already been playing, this deck has been... fine. But the additional power should be a big boost.
Clea from 1 to 5
My favorite way to play Clea is with Marvel Boy and Werewolf by Night. Between Flames of the Faltine and Lockheed, we can push our opponent's early cards deep into the red.
Iron Lad Move
I'm theory, if you have mostly movers in deck and play Iron Lad onto Xorn, something good will happen! When move decks draw badly, they're usually missing half of the mover/activator equation. Iron Lad can help smooth out those games.
Smear Multiple Man Around
Phoenix Force has always been quite strong when you manage to cover your board in Multiple Men, but it's fallen out of favor for more reliable options. We have multiple potential winning lines here.
Lad Buff
This might be the deck I'm most excited to try right as the OTA hits. There are so many great Iron Lad hits that there will be some fireworks. Pay attention to what is in your deck though – don't play him if Wasp and Majestic Wingbeat are both undrawn.
Skillactus
This Zombie Galacti deck eschews the high roll that Wong shenanigans provide, but replaces it with more reliable Galacti hits. This deck can also just win some games when you don't even draw the devourers.
Thank you all for your support of Fourth Location. Come find us manning the SnapDecks accounts on Twitter and Bluesky, spreading all of the new cooks that result from this OTA!
