Draft Economy Guide - Aug ’26

A new event is here, and with it, a brand-new economy. Almost every piece is familiar, but put together in a new way so there's plenty to discover! I'm here to break down how it all works.

I'll explain every prize, evaluate the value of the Premium Pass, and share tips for maximizing your resources. At the end, I'll take a step back and review the Draft economy as a whole. In case you haven't read one of my event economy guides before, know that they're fairly comprehensive. Feel free to jump around instead of reading the whole thing from beginning to end. Let's get into it!

Event Overview

Dates: August 24th – September 7th (with the Shop open 48 hours longer)

Economy Key Features:

  • Dual prize tracks you climb with XP from games (Free Pass + Premium Pass)
  • Shop where you can buy prizes with event currency (Bits) and Gold
  • Bonus resources from login calendars, mini events, and real-money bundles

Primary Goal: Win games

Grand Prizes

The Free Pass contains the new card, Hellcow Fractured Frontier! She'll enter Series 4 in a month.

I'm quite high on her! She was my #2 pick in my pre-season rankings. Mostly just because I think she can represent a lot of Power on the board. As a bonus, she can play clean-up crew for cards like Raptors, Squirrels, The Hood, and The Void.

The Premium Pass contains a new cosmetic type I know some players will love: Animated Emotes! Thanos FF slides his finger along the brim of his hat before making a finger gun. Or snapping? Both?!

Tickets

It costs a Ticket to start a Draft run. A run lasts until you win five games or lose two.

The more wins you get in a run, the better prizing you get. At five wins, you get your Ticket back, and that's the most valuable prize of all. More Tickets means more runs, which means more Bits and XP.

Tickets
Starting:
10
Regenerating: 1 every 24 hours
Soft Cap: 20 (you cannot regenerate beyond this)
Hard Cap: 200 (you cannot have more than this)
Free Pass: 4
Login Rewards: 4
Mini Event: 6
Premium Pass: 8

Total Free Tickets: 47
Total Premium Tickets: 55
Single Ticket Cost: 100 Gold
Ticket Bundle Cost: 5 for 350 Gold

Mind the cap! My usual suggestion is to never collect Tickets until you want to play and have zero Tickets. That's still the safest way to go, but Ticket regen in Draft is slow enough to easily manage. Your goal should be to stay below 20 Tickets so you don't burn any.

I don't love how slow the regeneration rate is. Mostly I just worry about players that burn through their starting Tickets quickly and then they'll only be able to play a couple runs each day after that. That said, there are many Tickets available for free if you actively participate in the login rewards and mini events.

If you really love Draft and just want to play more for fun (or maybe to chase Premium Mystery Variants), the bundle with five Tickets for 350 Gold is the way to go. You can buy it from the event Shop once every 24 hours.

Respawn Tokens

Once per run, you can get an extra life by spending a Respawn Token. In other words, those runs will last until you win five games or lose three.

Respawn Tokens
Starting:
5
Free Pass: 10
Login Rewards: 6
Premium Pass: 8

Total Free Respawn Tokens: 21
Total Premium Respawn Tokens: 29
Single Respawn Token Cost: 100 Gold

The amount of Respawn Tokens is incredibly generous. If your win rate is between 33% and 67%, you should have enough to spend one on every single run with two or more wins. In the unlikely event that your win rate is outside that range (either higher or lower), you'll have enough to spend one on every single run with at least one win.

I fully expected the advice was going to be to only spend these when you had four wins or a killer deck – but you'll have plenty to spare.

Run Rewards

Wins grants 15 Bits and 15 XP. Ties reward the same, but count as a loss for all other purposes. True losses reward 8 Bits and 8 XP.

On top of those incremental prizes after each game, you'll take home the bulk of your rewards when you finish a run, win or lose. Your prizing tier depends on how many wins you racked up, regardless of any losses.

The first five-win run of each day will reward a Premium Mystery Variant!

Passes

The Premium Pass costs 1,200 Gold and comes with the following prizes whenever you buy it:

  • 1,200 XP
  • 2 Draft Tickets
  • 2 Respawn Tokens

Here's everything you can find on each Pass (Premium instant rewards listed at 0 XP):

Premium Value

The Premium Pass costs 400 more Gold than those of other recent events, but I think this is a reasonable price bump for a variety of reasons. Least of all, the rewards are increased so the progress value (counting only prizes that help you acquire cards) remains comparable to other events: 65.12%.

It may not be the best deal if your top priority is optimizing your resources for new Series 4 and 5 cards. However, the Premium Pass can be a genuinely excellent deal if you have other priorities:

  • Get Hellcow FF instantly
  • Catch up on older Series 3, 4, and 5 cards
    • additional Bits to spend on Snap Packs in the Shop
  • Get more cosmetics from the event
    • one Animated Emote
    • seven Borders
    • additional Bits to spend on cosmetics in the Shop
  • Play more Draft
    • The extra Tickets and Respawn Tokens alone are worth 1,060 Gold

Time Investment

If you care about is unlocking Hellcow Fractured Frontier, you'll finish absurdly quickly. We're talking just two–five Draft runs, even if you have a lower win rate. That'll take just an hour or two of gameplay.

With a 50% win rate, the Premium Pass will save you ~three runs (whether you're chasing Hellcow or a completed Pass).

Shop

Here's everything you can spend your Bits on!

Of the Variants in the shop:

  • Mantis is Series 1
  • Mister Negative, Deadpool, and Ultron are Series 3
  • Hellion is Series 4

If you're missing any of those cards, you'll unlock the base card as soon as you get the variant.

Each Portal Pull will randomly give you one of these three Variants you don't have yet. There's good variety in the set. I think I'll chase that Hellion myself!

Matching avatars for this event’s exclusive Variants remain absent (an ongoing trend with recent events).

There are more Snap Packs on offer than usual (namely, a Collector's Series 5 Pack is up for grabs).

Additional prizes include a celebratory Card Back, a fun Magik Emote, and two Wanted Poster Variants.

One thing that has changed versus other event shops is that the "Rotating Offers" portion of the shop rotates daily instead of every 8 hours. I’m not a big fan of how this change makes it harder to purchase discounted Tickets or wait for a desirable cosmetic to rotate in. I often buy a couple Variants from this section in each event. It’s ultimately a small shadow cast on what is generally a generous event.

Shop Priorities

You’ll need to decide for yourself how important any of the cosmetics are to you. If you want to optimize for progress value (card acquisition), here’s how you should prioritize your prizes. Ellipses represent big gaps in value differences.

  1. Hellion (unowned base card) in one pull
  2. Hellion (unowned base card) in two pulls
  3. Series 3 Pack
  4. Mister Negative (unowned base card) in one pull
  5. Hellion (unowned base card) in three pulls
  6. Collector’s Series 4 Pack
  7. Collector’s Series 5 Pack
  8. Credits
  9. Deadpool/Ultron (unowned base card)
  10. Mister Negative (unowned base card) in two pulls
  11. Mister Negative (unowned base card) in three pulls
  12. All other Variants

Spending Gold

When you're short on Bits, you can cover the gap with Gold. It's an inefficient way to spend Gold, but some people place higher value on speed or cosmetics. If you are going to spend any Gold in the Shop, you should be strategic about what you spend it on. Every item has a different conversion rate. In the purple tables above, the items with higher "Bits per Gold" have better conversion rates.

Expected Goodies

I usually only talk about event currency in this section so you can plan your shopping, but here I've also included wins and Credits. The table below shows how many full-run wins, Credits, and Bits you can expect to earn by the end of the event. It's split up based on whether you're on the Free or Premium Pass, your win rate, and whether you play to complete the Pass or keep spending your Tickets after that.

These numbers do expect that you'll use your Respawn Tokens.

"Wins" give an idea of how many daily Premium Mystery Variants you can earn (if you space out your wins to one per day).

The Credits demonstrate one place where Draft is more generous than other events. Whereas this month's other big event (High Voltage: Overdrive) had only 900 Credits up for grabs (including the Premium Pass), Draft has 1,100 and however many you win from your runs.

Finally, the Bits are the star of this section so you can plan your Shop purchases.

Relative Pricing

While Shops feels really similar from one event to the next, they are not all created equal. Some Shops offer much better deals than others in terms of how your play time translates into prizing.

I recently started tracking this difference with an arbitrary comparison:

  • take the event currency you'd have by clearing every Mission and spending every Ticket, with a 50% win rate (as applicable for each event)
  • how many Portal Pulls, S4 Packs, Emotes, or Credits could you buy from the event's Shop if it had unlimited stock?

So far I've only tracked these values for August's High Voltage: Overdrive and July's Team Clash. It's already enough to paint quite the picture! Draft clearly has the highest prize potential among the three most recent events.

Conclusion

Draft is launching with a bang! It feels generous to players of all experience and skill levels. That's exactly what I'd expect from an exciting new mode with so much hype surrounding it! Of course there's a big push to get people playing. The whole thing feels like a big celebration of Snap.

I have a little concern that the Ticket regeneration will prove too slow for the most active players. I'm hopeful that concern will prove unfounded. Generally, a Draft Ticket is good for more games than Tickets from other modes, so it might end up feeling totally fine. Even so, if somebody wants to spend Gold on extra Tickets, it’s stricter than usual thanks to the Rotating Offers in the shop rotating three times slower.

There are some parts of the Draft economy that I expect are particularly generous only for this first run. Some of the increased prizing may be because the event lasts longer than most. I would be surprised if future runs kept the daily opportunity to win a Premium Mystery Variant. Then again, winning a run should feel special!

I'm personally pretty conservative with my Gold and picky about cosmetics. I skip Premium Passes more often than not, but I'm in for this one. I admit it's not really for the cosmetics, but because Draft is fun. I want those extra Tickets and Respawn Tokens!

As I covered previously there are a bunch of reasons the Premium Pass might be right for you. If any of those apply, it's a solid buy.
